MY ORIGINS
THE LOVE FOR ART
I am Sandra Von Rubenwil, born in the USA in 1965 from an Argentinian mother of Russian -jewish origins and a Swiss father. At the age of 6 I moved to Ticino, in Italian-speaking Switzerland, where I attended courses as a textile and graphic designer. I worked as a restorer in Venice: in the lagoon city, where east and west embrace each other, my love for art free from conditioning exploded. Back in Ticino, with the birth of my first daughter, I started my artistic activity and my exhibitions.

THE DISCOVERY OF KABBALAH
I discovered the Jewish alphabet shortly after the birth of my third child and was deeply fascinated by it. According to the Kabbalah, each letter of the alphabet, with its shape, sound and meaning, is a repository of specific virtues and gifts. I have also been practising meditation for years: the best way to get in touch with the sacred information contained in the Hebrew letters is in fact to let go of one’s ego and open up to the universe. I work and meditate everyday in my atelier, a place of solitude, far from every trend, fashion or market, a place of encounter with the supreme.
